550 Plus use with Garmin Alpha APP

I decided to upgrade my Tritronics and Garmin training collars to something new with location. The Garmin Pro 550 Plus with 2 TT25 collars was recommended by Garmin. KInda pricey but these will be my last dogs. The training portion of the system is very similar to my old stuff so that is nice. The GPS stuff is a little tricky. They do take up quite a bit of real estate on my dogs' necks (30 & 50 lb Britts).

Apparently, the 550 Plus will work with the Alpha APP. which seems helpful beyond distance and direction. Does anyone else with the 550 Plus utilize the APP? Can the APP be used with Basecamp?

Also, it seems to be necessary to be outside with clear satellite view in order to turn on. If you just want collar activity, can you just ignore the pairing?

Did you ever get any kind of reply to your inquiry about using the Pro 550 Plus with the Alpha application? I've been interested in how the 2 would work together but haven't been able to find much online about the subject. In theory, it seems like it would be a great way to preserve all of the benefits of the basic 550 Plus controller yet having all of the Alpha app information captured on your cell phone. Not sure that I'm looking at this correctly.
